(Wow it’s been a long time since I posted)
Last night’s game blew.
Rich Hill almost pitched perfect gem through 9 innings, only for our offense to not-be-clutch with 0 runs scored. One tough grounder and fielding error by Logan Forsythe ruined the chance for the perfect game. After a sad top of the 10th inning, Josh Harrison hit a walk off home run off the immaculate until then 37-year old.
Amazingly, Rich Hill’s pitch count going into the 9th was around the 80s. Nothing was going to stop this man from getting his chance to make history. After last year’s fiasco of being pulled after 7th innings by Doc in fear of injuries (which was ludicrous to me at the time since his pitch count was only at 89), our starter tonight deserved to pitch until the end of the game whether it would go into extras or not.
Tonight also marks the night of the first no-hitter broken up by a walk-off home run in extra innings. Well Rich, at least you made some history tonight. You were just on the wrong side of it. Blame the offense. Blame Josh Harrison. Blame the gods of baseball.
